Company description
Rootstock is an early-stage startup connecting Bay Area communities with exceptional local organic farms. Our mission is to help create a healthier, more resilient local food system while making it easier for people to connect with the source of their food and enjoy produce grown for flavor, nutrition, and stewardship.
We source directly from renowned growers like Masumoto Family Farm, JSM Organics, Fifth Crow Farm, and Full Belly Farm, alongside the next generation of emerging farmers. Together, we're building a new model for local food distribution – one neighborhood at a time.
Job description
Rootstock — Bay Area, CA (Mid-Peninsula preferred)
Hybrid (remote + in-person)
Part-time (~20 hours/week) to start
Contract-to-hire with potential to grow into a full-time role
$40–75/hour, depending on experience and demonstrated track record
THE ROLE
We're looking for a resourceful Growth, Sales, & Marketing Associate to help accelerate Rootstock's growth across customers, partnerships, and community engagement.
This role sits at the intersection of growth, community building, business development, partnerships, and marketing. You'll help identify and execute the highest-impact opportunities to
grow Rootstock—from securing new pickup sites and community partnerships to creating marketing campaigns, representing the company at events, and testing new customer acquisition
channels.
Community is at the heart of Rootstock's model. We grow one neighborhood at a time by building trust, relationships, and local connections. You'll play a key role in helping Rootstock become a valued part of the communities we serve—working with schools, apartment communities, employers, fitness centers, local businesses, and community organizations to create meaningful engagement and lasting partnerships.
The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, resourceful, highly organized, and energized by turning ideas into action. You enjoy meeting people, building relationships, creating opportunities, and
helping a mission-driven business grow from the ground up.
While this is not a traditional quota-carrying sales role, success will be measured by tangible business outcomes, including customer growth, partnership development, revenue contribution,
community engagement, and other agreed-upon objectives. We're looking for someone who is comfortable reaching out to new people, creating momentum, and helping ensure Rootstock's
growth efforts generate meaningful return on investment.
