Company description
Dinah is a neighborhood restaurant built on a simple idea: great food tastes better in good company. We cook elevated, classic NYC diner food with the best available ingredients, with local sourcing wherever possible, and we treat the dining room as a gathering place for our neighbors, not just a place to eat.
That community focus is about to get bigger. Our events calendar is growing to include guest chef “family dinner” pop-ups, happy hours, game nights, poetry slams, and more — nights where the restaurant belongs to the neighborhood. The people who serve at Dinah are the hosts of all of it.

Job description:
We’re looking for warm, friendly, experienced servers who love food and love people — and who get excited about a dining room that doubles as a community space. This is a role for someone who wants to know regulars by name, talk about the menu because they actually care about it, and help turn a Tuesday game night, or a Saturday brunch, into the best part of someone’s week.
What you’ll do:
• Deliver genuinely warm, knowledgeable service — guide guests through the menu, make recommendations, and make every table feel taken care of.
• Learn our food and drinks inside and out, including specials and guest chef menus.
• Host our daily service from setup through last call, whether a brunch shift or a mahjong lunch.
• Build relationships with regulars and first-timers alike; you are the face of Dinah.
• Support the team: run food, reset tables, handle opening and closing duties, and keep the room clean, safe, and beautiful.
• Handle Square POS transactions accurately and follow all health and safety standards.
Who we’re looking for:
• 2+ years of serving experience in a full-service restaurant.
• A genuine love for hospitality — you make people feel welcome and attended to because you enjoy making people's lives better one interaction at a time.
• Curiosity about food and drink, and enthusiasm for talking about both.
• A reliable teammate with a calm head and excellent communication on busy days and event nights.
• Able to stand for long shifts; NYC Food Protection Certificate or willingness to obtain is a plus (we will happily pay for the test).
• Weekend availability, with flexibility for events.
