We work closely with over 70 Maine farms and food producers and a wide network of food system partners to bring you the best Maine grown foods. We may have varying seasons in Maine, but our role is to connect you to an abundance of Maine grown and produced foods year-round.
Job description
Peak Season, LLC is an all local food distribution business that seeks to create markets for over 70+small, independent farms and food producers in Maine. Our delivery drivers are responsible for ensuring
the safe, reliable, efficient, accurate and timely distribution of our farm shares and wholesale orders throughout the State of Maine. Furthermore, this position is the primary in-person interface with our
customers. It is important the person in this position is professional, friendly and knowledgeable about Peak Season when interacting with customers. We are hiring for a full time delivery driver, Tuesday through Friday (32-35hrs/wk).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
-Loading and driving a Sprinter van and a 26ft box truck, ensuring that orders are checked against customer invoices and all complete orders are on board before departure.
-Delivering farm fresh produce and value added products throughout the State of Maine.
-Ensuring accuracy and quality when loading orders and upon delivery.
-Backhauling orders and stowing appropriately based on instructions given.
-Navigating using your smartphone for GPS and occasionally with a Maine atlas depending on cell phone service.
-Ensuring optimum efficiency, product quality and safety on routes.
-Working with the Peak Season Distribution Manager when vehicle maintenance, roadside assistance and towing is needed.
-Coordinating and communicating off the road contact at the warehouse with any pertinent questions or updates that arise while out for deliveries.
-Assist with various tasks at the warehouse as instructed and as the weekly distribution schedule allows.
-Reporting driving hours daily, using Quickbooks Time for time tracking
-Adhere to all safety Standard Operating Procedures at all times
LOCATION
This position is based at our warehouse in Unity, Maine in 2026 which will transition to Belfast, Maine in 2027. As a delivery driver, you will start and complete your shift at our warehouse.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiar with Maine’s agricultural and culinary landscape
- Passionate about sustainable agriculture and local food
- Friendly positive and curious with a positive attitude
- Able to pay consistent attention to detail
- Good problem-solving skills and able to think on their feet and adapt to changing circumstances
- Confident and able to work independently and complete deliveries in a timely manner
- Respectful of coworkers, vendors and customers of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and gender identities
- A valid driver’s license. A Commercial Drivers License is not required for this position
- Team player and not afraid to ask questions
- Able to give and receive constructive criticism respectfully
- Has flexibility in their schedule as needs may increase or vary slightly as the business grows and seasons change
- Able to repeatedly lift 50 pounds
- Willing to work in inclement conditions
- Have a smart phone they can use for navigating (partial reimbursement on monthly bill available)
- Computer literate - including g-mail, google docs, excel and printing with the ability and interest in learning other digital tools the company may adopt
HOURS & COMPENSATION
Tuesday 8:00-4:30, Wednesday 8:00-4:30, Thursday 8:00-4:30pm, Friday 8:00am-3:30pm year round
with possible anticipated variance of +/- 1 hour at beginning and/or end of day as needs dictate. A half
hour paid lunch is included in route schedules when shifts are 5+ hours.
Starting hourly pay for driving is $23/hr DOE.
