Company description
Wild East Farm is a working farm tending 45 acres in McDowell County, NC. We are a diversified, mixed farm with multiple enterprises: pastured chicken, pastured turkey, pastured eggs, forest raised pork, sheep and no-till vegetables. Our animals rotate through 12 acres of extensive silvopasture tree crop plantings, which are just beginning to produce. Plantings include mulberry, paw paw, apple, asian pear, asian persimmon, hazelnut, and more. Only organic practices are used in all of our food production systems.
We sell both directly to customers at 2 weekly farmers markets year round, maintain a 50 household CSA program, and have longstanding partnerships with food access nonprofits partners to distribute our foods for free to the community.
2026 marks our fourth season in production. The 2026 team consists of three managers, two full time crew members and a part time crew member. As a small, diverse farm, crew members are expected to participate in all aspects of farm operations- from veggies to animals.
We are very involved in the local food community in Western North Carolina and maintain a strong outward facing presence as professional, organized, and authentic. We are focused on relational agriculture as both a business strategy and as a way of life. We operate within a “Holistic Context” framework and value dynamic work-life-play balance. Crew members do not work more than 40 hours/week. The current team all genuinely love our lives here on the farm!
