Job description
Seeking a Shift Lead to support kitchen operations on an urban farm and retreat center in Berkeley. This is a dynamic position to nourish guests of multi-day retreats and special events like weddings, b'mitzvahs, and birthday parties.

We're looking for people with one or more year of kitchen experience to join our kitchen team. The Lead role is expected to be able to run all aspects of a shift from food preparation and cooking, running service (including dining room maintenance), washing dishes, as well as cleaning and kitchen shutdown. Leads can expect to work closely with the Chef in additional supportive roles: managing stations during events, supporting with procurement, and recipe/SOP refinement.
Perfect for someone looking to work part-time, up to 30 hours a week within our busy season, with a minimum of 10 hours per week. A great opportunity for seasoned hospitality professionals looking to work in a fun, friendly, kind, and challenging environment, even if in school or working another part-time job.
EXPERIENCE
1+ years in a commercial/high volume kitchen
Proven experience leading a kitchen team of 1-3 staff
Ability to work independently and be responsible for operations in Chef's absence.
CA food safety certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
RESPONSIBILITIES
10-30 hours per week with a variable, events-based schedule
A mix of weekend and weekday shifts
Good Availability (Opening shifts may begin as early as 5:30 am, closing shifts may go as late as 11 pm)
