Fredrikson Farm is located in China Maine on 47+ acres of field and forestry. The farm is home to 100+ Saanen Dairy Goats. Owners Ed and Dianna Fredrikson take great pride in the healthy, productive herd they have built over the last 16 years. As with the expansion of the herd the owners are always looking for ways to improve on the processes. Every year the Fredrikson's have made significant improvements from the housing of the goats to the overall efficiency of processing their tasty Chevre'. The Fredrikson's are proud of the quality product they produce made from "Our goats, our milk, our cheese.
Job description
Herd Manager:
Job Functions:
- Take pride in the farm, its employees and conduct all responsibilities with the well-being of the farm as paramount.
- Work with a team on all health and care of the animals and the facilities.
- Work with Nutritionists and feeders to keep track of feed inventory and diets.
- Maintenance of facilities, grounds, pastures and machinery/equipment.
- Create and follow through with annual production goals to be discussed with owners.
- Responsible to milk herd daily.
- Assist with births when necessary during spring kidding season
- Oversee and assist with heat detections (SCR) and breeding
Qualifications Required:
- Prior experience in dairy management or training in the dairy industry, preferably goat dairy.
- Strong organization skills and effective communicator.
- Ability to make decisions quickly as they relate to the daily operations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal directions.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
