Help Grow Hawaiʻi’s Next Generation of Farmers
GoFarm Hawaiʻi is seeking a full-time Farm Coach for our Waimānalo training farm beginning September 1, 2026.
This role is ideal for someone who has experience in farming, facilitation, and teaching. As a Farm Coach, you’ll help aspiring farmers develop the practical knowledge, technical skills, networks and confidence to build successful farm businesses in Hawaiʻi while supporting the operation of our training farm.

About the Role
Working as part of the Waimānalo team, you'll collaborate closely with the Lead Farm Coach, Farm-Site Assistant, and statewide program staff to deliver beginning farmer education and support our largest, flagship training and incubator site. This position combines education, production farming, team-building, long-term group facilitation, operational leadership, and program coordination in a dynamic, hands-on environment. Training and mentorship will be provided by the existing Farm Coach and program team during onboarding.
Key Responsibilities
Farmer Education
- Teach AgXposure and AgXcel programs through hands-on field instruction and online learning.
- Plan and facilitate classes, coordinate guest speakers and field trips, and mentor beginning farmers.
- Create a supportive, engaging learning environment that helps participants build technical farming and business skills.
Farm Operations
- Support and execute crop production, farm maintenance, infrastructure upkeep, and general site operations.
- Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive training farm.
- Support AgIncubator farmers and cultivate positive relationships with community partners.
Program Coordination
- Collaborate in-person with the Waimānalo team and virtually with statewide administrative, operations, and business staff.
- Use digital tools to communicate, maintain records, and support program coordination.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of GoFarm Hawaiʻi’s educational programs.
We’re Looking for Someone Who Has
- Commercial farming experience in Hawaiʻi and a strong understanding of local crop production systems.
- Experience with crop production planning and long-term farm management.
- Experience teaching, training, facilitating, or mentoring individuals or groups.
- Strong facilitation, communication, and group management skills.
- Emotional intelligence and the ability to build positive relationships with participants, partners, and team members.
- An understanding of place-based agriculture and Hawaiʻi’s farming community.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
- Computer proficiency, including Google Workspace, Zoom, and other online collaboration tools, with the ability to facilitate engaging virtual instruction.
- A collaborative, self-motivated approach to work and a willingness to contribute wherever needed.
Bonus Qualifications
- Experience maintaining and operating farm infrastructure, irrigation systems, equipment, or machinery.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience with repairs or general farm maintenance.
- Formal education in agriculture, horticulture, education, or a related field.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to perform physical farm work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Valid driver’s license.
Schedule & Availability
Full-time position (40 hours per week)
Start date: September 1, 2026
Regular weekend work is required as part of GoFarm Hawaiʻi’s educational programs.
Employment Information
This position is employed through the Research Corporation of the University of Hawaiʻi (RCUH) and supports the GoFarm Hawaiʻi program.

Compensation
this position is: salaried, $50,000 - $75,000
