Company description
We're building a new kind of educational destination where regenerative agriculture, hospitality, food, ecology, and craftsmanship come together to help people live more connected, capable, and meaningful lives.
We're reviving a 300-acre historic campus in Arizona's high desert — more than 100 existing buildings, gardens, orchards, cottages, classrooms, and gathering spaces, surrounded by thousands of acres of ranch land — as TAMAMURI, a place where guests, students, and educators learn, create, and reconnect. Central Arizona location, within easy reach of Phoenix, Flagstaff, Sedona, and Prescott.
As a member of our founding leadership team, you'll help shape not just the culinary program, but the culture and traditions of an organization built to last for generations. We're looking for people energized by possibility, who thrive in collaborative environments, and want to leave something better than they found it.
Job description
We're seeking an exceptional Culinary Director to build our culinary program from the ground up — not a traditional restaurant job. Programs will include immersive retreats, hands-on cooking and agricultural education, farm-to-table dining, and overnight hospitality. We believe feeding people is one of the most powerful forms of education, and every meal should show that delicious food, healthy ecosystems, and genuine hospitality belong together.
What You'll Do
- Lead all daily culinary operations, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, retreats, and special events.
- Create seasonal, farm-to-table menus featuring produce from our gardens, orchard, greenhouse, and regional producers.
- Oversee family-style and cafeteria-style dining that is nourishing, beautiful, and memorable.
- Design and launch our culinary education program: classes, workshops, demonstrations
- Collaborate with our regenerative agriculture team to plan seasonal production and maximize the use of campus-grown ingredients.
- Recruit, mentor, and lead a values-driven kitchen team.
- Establish kitchen systems, recipes, sourcing standards, budgets, and operational procedures.
- Help shape the long-term vision for a nationally recognized cooking school (for everyday people wanting to enhance their skills and connect to regenerative food systems) integrated with regenerative agriculture and hospitality.
Who You Are
You've led a high-volume, quality-driven food operation — retreat center, school, camp, hospitality property, restaurant, or catering — and know how to serve thoughtful, nourishing meals to large groups while keeping a calm kitchen and a positive team culture. You're excited to build something new, and you:
You are someone who:
- Believes great food begins with healthy soil and thoughtful sourcing
- Values hospitality as an act of generosity
- Enjoys mentoring others and sharing knowledge
- Entrepreneurial, adaptable, and energized by creating something new
- Thrives in collaborative, mission-driven environments
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)
- On-campus housing available (family friendly)
- Opportunity to help design a nationally recognized culinary and educational destination from its earliest stages
- A collaborative leadership team committed to innovation, ecological stewardship, and extraordinary guest experiences
- A long-term compensation and incentives package for founding leadership, currently in development
If you're excited by the opportunity to build something lasting (and believe food can be a catalyst for healthier people, healthier communities, and healthier ecosystems) we'd love to hear from you.
