Maidstone Harvest is a small, growing organic farm that provides beautiful greens, vegetables, and herbs for several local restaurants and various other markets.
We currently have two field locations and are expanding. Our goal over the next few years is to grow to a 7 acre market farm that will not only cater to our chefs and established restaurants, but also add other channels to help expand sales.
Job description
We are looking for a full-time year-round Propagation Manager with experience who will help manage our production daily. We are seeking an individual who is passionate about farming, hard-working, motivated, and excited to join a growing team. Minimum of two seasons of experience required.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage farm propagation to ensure a proficient supply of microgreens and vegetables starts in line with the crop plan, seeding schedule, and demand planning.
- Organize and maintain a sanitary workspace.
- Complete daily sanitization of growing and storage media
- Complete all task tickets, using Tend software
- Record Keeping
- Conduct crop assessments to monitor crop health and plan upcoming tasks
- Train and manage farm staff in crop propagation tasks, promoting sustainable practices and
high quality standards
- Communicate regularly with the rest of the management team regarding crop status, labor needs, and crop production priorities
- Support farm upkeep and cleanliness, maintaining a productive work environment
Qualifications:
- Three or more seasons of previous experience on a farm is required
- A degree in Agriculture or related field is preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with the necessary tools and equipment to perform day to day tasks around the farm
- A basic understanding of how farm machinery functions, and the ability to operate the machinery safely
- A basic understanding of farm machinery maintenance
- The ability to repeatedly lift and carry 50+ lb objects
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work efficiently and both independently and collaboratively on a team
- A willingness to work weekends.
- A deep interest in soil conservation and farmland stewardship
- Computer savvy and able to maintain records
Schedule:
- Our Propagation Manager position is considered a full-time, year-round position, averaging 40 hours/week in the “cold months” (December through March), and averaging 50 hours/week in the “warm months” (April through November)
Competitive salary and compensation package.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, $35,568* - $50,000
