Company description
Maple Wind Farm (MWF) is a livestock farm founded in 1999. We produce pasture-raised, non-GMO chicken, eggs, pork, and turkey in Richmond and Bolton, VT and operate a USDA-inspected processing facility that serves 30+ small producers in 6 Northeast states. Our growing on-farm store stocks our entire range of products alongside dairy, healthy staples, cold drinks, unique snacks and more from Vermont and the Northeast.
Job description
Maple Wind Farm in Richmond, VT, seeks a part-time delivery driver (non-CDL, Thursdays) for our wholesale and home delivery program, with the potential for full-time work in other parts of the business (warehouse/fulfillment, field work, poultry processing and/or marketing).
Our drivers safely transport and deliver our products to farm stands, homes, restaurants, grocery stores and institutional customers in Chittenden County and Waterbury, Stowe and Montpelier, pick up deliveries that are coming back to the farm, and keep the wheels turning for our business!
Our current delivery day is Thursday. Long shifts can stretch to ~9 hours (with a paid break, if desired), but can be shorter during slower periods.
While our all-farm team is small and wears many hats, our Thursday driver will:
- Drive our medium-duty refrigerated truck on assigned delivery routes
- Load (AM) and unload (PM) the delivery truck
- Handle perishable, bulky and/or fragile food products such as eggs, cases of refrigerated and frozen chicken, or coolers of ice cream.
- Make deliveries accurately, including getting paper invoices “signed-off” from customers when needed
- Communicate regularly with management about vehicle status and needs.
Truck-driving experience is not required, but truck or equipment operating experience may be helpful. Our box truck does not require a CDL, and we regularly train staff on how to drive it. Drivers must be confident on the road in all but the worst weather conditions.
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to repeatedly lift 50 pounds and carry 50-pound boxes short distances, including up and down stairs
- Ability and willingness to operate a truck in most weather conditions
- Ability to interpret signage, converse, and record information in written and/or spoken English.
- Applicants must be age 18+ at the time of application, possess a valid driver’s license, a clean motor vehicle record, and the faculties required to safely operate a medium-duty-box truck.
Benefits:
- Employer-paid workers’ compensation insurance
- Paid sick time
- Paid break on eligible shifts
- Generous discount in our farm grocery store
- Free eggs and meat when available
- A work phone while on duty
- An upbeat, supportive team environment.
We are targeting initial compensation of $22/hour but are open to discussing a different rate for folks with transferable experience.
