FoodLab is a hands-on experiential education program teaching food science and cooking to students from ages 4 to 18. FoodLab’s programs develop the awareness and self-efficacy needed to improve and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle by adopting healthier eating habits and lifestyle patterns through investigation, discovery, and experimentation with food. We invite students to ask questions, taste bravely, and think deeply about what is on their plate.
Job description
Elementary school educator to teach pre-k - 4th grade food science and plant-based culinary arts classes in an after-school program at a Manhattan independent school. Hours: 2:45-5pm 2 days a week on Mondays and Wednesdays.
Specific tasks include: Prepping food and lab materials; setting up classroom; Teaching cooking and baking; Teaching/leading kitchen science Lab work; Clean up.
You should be energetic, positive, curious, patient, detail-oriented, and a team player with appreciation and affinity for working with children, plant-based cooking, nutrition education, and a sustainable approach to cooking and eating.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
