About Likkle Patty Shop
Likkle Patty Shop is a small, independently owned vegan Caribbean bakery and food business in Windsor, Connecticut. Our menu is rooted in Caribbean flavors and includes Jamaican style patties, baked goods, desserts, lunch bowls and seasonal specials.
We are a small team, and our size is intentional. Working here means being part of a hands-on business where everyone contributes, communication matters, and there is a direct connection between the work you do and what our customers experience.
Our bakery program includes everything from weekly staples like cookies and scones to brownies, bars, cakes, and seasonal baking. We value consistency, curiosity, and people who take pride in making good food. We are always interested in new ideas, but we also believe that the basics matter: following a recipe, producing a consistent product, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and doing what you say you're going to do.
We are building a small food business with a distinct point of view, and we're looking for people who enjoy the realities of independent food work: a hands-on environment, a varied workload, and the opportunity to take real ownership of their part of the operation.
Job description
Likkle Patty Shop is looking for an experienced Part-Time Production Baker to join our small, independently owned vegan Caribbean bakery in Windsor, Connecticut.
This is a hands-on baking and production role focused on producing our regular bakery offerings, including cookies, scones, brownies, bars, cakes, and seasonal baked goods.
We're looking for someone who enjoys the rhythm of production baking: working from a list, following recipes, managing their time, and taking pride in producing consistent, high-quality baked goods.
What You'll Do:
- Prepare and produce a variety of baked goods according to our production schedule, including cookies, scones, brownies, bars, cakes, and seasonal items.
- Execute recipes from start to finish, including scaling ingredients, mixing, baking, cooling, finishing, and packaging products as needed.
- Follow established recipes and procedures accurately to ensure consistency in taste, texture, portioning, and appearance.
- Work independently through a daily production list while managing time and maintaining a steady, efficient pace.
- Monitor product quality throughout the baking process, including doneness, baking times, oven performance, and finished appearance.
- Maintain a clean, organized workstation throughout the shift and complete assigned cleaning and end-of-day tasks.
- Properly label, store, rotate, and handle ingredients and finished products.
- Communicate when ingredients or supplies are running low, when a recipe or production issue arises, or when a task cannot be completed as expected.
- Assist with other bakery and kitchen tasks as needed in a small-team environment.
- Contribute ideas for seasonal baked goods and new menu items. We welcome creative input while maintaining consistency with the overall direction and needs of the business.
What We're Looking For:
The right person for this role has previous professional baking experience and is comfortable working independently once trained.
You should be someone who can look at a production list, organize your work, and move through it without needing constant direction. You understand that consistency matters just as much as creativity and that accurately following a recipe is a professional skill, not a limitation.
Required:
- Previous professional baking experience in a bakery, café, pastry kitchen, catering operation, or other commercial food-production environment.
- Experience producing baked goods from recipes in a professional setting.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to accurately scale, measure, portion, and follow recipes.
- Good time management and pacing while maintaining quality.
- Ability to work independently and stay focused on assigned tasks.
- Consistent punctuality and reliability.
- Comfort with physically demanding work, including standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Basic math skills for measuring, scaling, and portioning.
- Understanding of basic food safety and sanitation practices.
Especially Nice to Have
These are not requirements, but we'd love to hear from you if you have experience with:
- Vegan or plant-based baking.
- Plant-based substitutions and recipe development.
- Caribbean flavors or cuisine.
- Working in a small bakery or food business where everyone contributes across different areas.
This Role Is a Good Fit If You:
- Enjoy production work and getting into a rhythm.
- Like having a clear list of things to accomplish during your shift.
- Can handle repetitive or detail-oriented tasks without losing focus.
- Take pride in consistency and doing things correctly.
- Are comfortable working independently after training.
- Clean and organize as you work rather than leaving everything for the end of the day.
- Communicate when something goes wrong instead of ignoring the problem.
- Understand the realities of working for a small independent food business, where everyone occasionally needs to pitch in.
