OMF sits on 65 acres of beautiful mountain land in Ojai, California. We are tucked away off the beaten path, with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean, The Channel Islands, and the Topa Topa mountains. The farm is located 25 minutes from downtown Ojai. We are five years into farming this land and have turned 3.5 acres into mixed orchards and an acre into two mixed vegetable gardens. We also have two sweet farm dogs and a small garden chicken coop. We farm using a combination of organic, permaculture and regenerative methods. We strive to farm in a way that maintains the natural ecosystem that surrounds us. Our goal is to provide delicious healthful produce to our restaurant/market in downtown Ojai.

Job description

We are looking for someone inspired to collaborate on new ideas to expand and help the farm flourish. This position is 5 days a week. Inquiring individuals need to be open to working 1 day over weekends occasionally (more information upon interview). This is not a live-on position. We can be flexible with hours and scheduling needs.

Pay and Benefits: $22.00 per hour with PTO, paid holidays, ICHRA health insurance reimbursement, and employee discounts.

This is an overarching position that will provide general assistance to the Systems Managers with the daily duties of running the farm.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Assists orchard and garden leads with daily duties of farm management
• Plant, fertilize and harvest vegetable gardens and fruit orchards
• Care for animals (farm dogs and laying hens)
• Perform manual labor (must be able to lift up to 50lbs)
• Operate and mindfully maintain farm equipment and vehicles (tractor, farm truck, etc.)
• Coordinate with farm manager to provide volunteers with tasks/projects
• Have great time-management skills and clear communication
• Document findings and ongoing farm research/schedule updates
• Maintain the cleanliness/organization of the farm and its equipment
• Communicates and supports market/deli staff with harvest/product and information transfers

Skills/Knowledge Required:

• We are open to different skill and experiences levels but at least some experience or skill set in agriculture is required.

Compensation

this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
