Job description
Pay Range: $23.91 - $30.81 Per Hour
Length of Work Year:
260 Days (40 hours per week - Monday through Friday)
Hours: 40 hours per week; Monday through Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm.

Under the direction of the Administrator of Farm Lab and the Lead Farmer, responsible for supporting all farming operations, general maintenance and grounds needs at Encinitas Union School District’s Farm Lab.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Support Lead Farmer with irrigation, weeding, orchard and native garden maintenance, composting, harvesting, pest management, seeding, greenhouse propagation, general farm maintenance, and record keeping.
● Prepare and plant beds per the crop plan.
● Support with integrated pest management on the farm and in classrooms.
● Support with landscaping, tree care and chicken care.
● Support with property weed mitigation.
● Support with raised bed care and vermicomposting.
● Inspect farm buildings and grounds for damage, needed repairs, security and safety hazards and report to the supervisor.
● Maintain equipment, barn, shed and field organization, and safety protocols.
● Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
● Methods and equipment used in regenerative organic farming
● Methods, materials, and equipment used in groundskeeping
● Integrated pest management
● Irrigation: drip, overhead, valves, and repair
● General maintenance work
● Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
● Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, punctuation, and arithmetic
Ability to:
● Perform strenuous farming tasks, including lifting, carrying and digging
● Use farming equipment
● Make accurate mathematical calculations
● Work collaboratively and solve problems
● Maintain records
● Understand and carry out written and oral directions
● Maintain regular and consistent attendance
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
● Equivalent to the completion of 12th grade
● One to three years of farming experience
● Experience in farming, grounds, maintenance or related work preferred

California Class C driver’s license and employee-provided transportation required.
REQUIRED TESTING Pre-employment testing and assessment to demonstrate minimum qualifications required for the position.
CLEARANCES
California Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance, pre-employment physical examination including tuberculosis (TB) and drug screen clearances.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $20/hr +
