Job description
We are seeking an experienced, energetic, and highly dependable Bakery Supervisor to lead the day-to-day execution of production during assigned shifts.
This is a hands-on kitchen position—not a desk-based management role. The Supervisor works alongside the bakery team while directing the flow of production, keeping employees on task, monitoring production speed and quality, and ensuring the kitchen reaches its daily goals.
The right candidate is a confident floor leader who communicates clearly, stays calm under pressure, notices the details, and knows how to keep a busy production kitchen moving. They should take pride in developing people, maintaining high standards, and contributing to a positive, accountable team culture.
Production and Shift Leadership
Lead the execution of the daily production schedule.
Clearly communicate priorities, assignments, and expected completion times.
Ensure employees remain focused, productive, and appropriately assigned throughout the shift.
Reassign labor or adjust workflow when necessary to achieve daily production goals.
Make practical, time-sensitive decisions that keep production moving.
Work directly alongside the team and assist with production wherever needed.
Ensure all opening, closing, cleaning, and sanitation checklists are completed accurately and on time.
Quality, Food Safety, and Organization
Assist with quality-control checks throughout all stages of production.
Ensure bakers follow approved recipes, batch sizes, production methods, and product specifications.
Monitor product consistency, including appearance, weight, texture, bake, assembly, and packaging.
Ensure ingredients, work-in-process, and finished products are properly labeled, dated, stored, and rotated according to FIFO procedures.
Reinforce allergen controls, sanitation procedures, GMPs, food-safety requirements, and safe equipment use.
Ensure the kitchen is left clean, organized, stocked, and ready for the following shift.
Training and Team Development
Provide clear, hands-on instruction in recipes, production methods, equipment use, food safety, sanitation, labeling, FIFO, and quality standards.
Observe employee performance during training and provide immediate coaching and correction.
Communicate training progress, additional training needs, and employee readiness to bakery leadership.
Team Leadership and Culture
Create a positive, professional, and accountable working environment.
Promote teamwork, enthusiasm, integrity, respect, and pride in the work.
Provide thoughtful and objective input regarding employee performance and other HR-related matters.
The Supervisor does not independently hire, terminate, suspend, or issue final disciplinary action. However, their observations and recommendations are an important part of employee evaluations and employment decisions.
Supervisors participate in weekly operations meetings with the Kitchen Production Manager and Head of Bakery Operations.
