Job description
Position Summary
The Quality Assurance Technician will serve as the primary quality resource supporting Culinary Collective's daily operations. The individual will maintain supplier approval programs, monitor regulatory documentation, assist with inbound product inspections, support product and packaging reviews, manage customer complaint investigations, and help implement quality oversight programs under the direction of the Head of Operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with multiple departments within the operation to ensure products meet company requirements and applicable regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Supplier Quality & Documentation Management
Maintain supplier approval and verification programs.
Review, collect, and organize supplier documentation including:
Track document expiration dates and ensure timely renewals.
Maintain electronic supplier files and approved supplier databases.
Support supplier risk assessments and supplier approval activities.
Ensure controlled versions of specifications are maintained
Regulatory Compliance
Assist with FDA compliance activities related to imported foods.
Review FDA entry documentation and regulatory records as required.
Execute activities assigned under California’s Prop 65 Program.
Support maintenance of quality programs and SOPs.
Assist in implementation of food safety and compliance initiatives.
Maintain records required for regulatory inspections.
· Manage customer compliance documentation requirements, including certifications, regulatory records, and supporting documentation (e.g., organic certification).
Label & Packaging Review Support
Assist the Director of Quality Assurance (Ocean Brands) with Culinary Collective:
Label reviews
Packaging reviews
Customer Complaints & Corrective Actions
· Receive and document customer complaints.
Investigate complaint trends and root causes.
Coordinate corrective action requests with suppliers.
Follow up on corrective and preventive action plans.
Maintain complaint records and KPI reporting.
Inspection & Audit Support
Support Operations in the preparation of documentation for:
FDA inspections
Health department inspections
Participate in audit preparation and follow-up activities.
Verify corrective actions are completed and documented.
Product Quality & Inspection
Conduct inspections of incoming products.
Identify and document product defects or quality concerns.
Support investigations into quality-related issues.
Maintain inspection records and trend reports.
Coordinate with 3rd party laboratory testing as required
Other
Support special projects as assigned by Head of Operations.
Qualifications
Required
1 to 2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Food Safety, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, Food Importing, or a related field.
Working knowledge of HACCP principles.
Basic understanding of FDA food regulations.
Strong organizational and documentation skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred
PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification or HACCP certification.
Experience reviewing food labels and product specifications.
Experience working with imported foods.
Bilingual: English/Spanish

This role is non-exempt and is eligible for overtime pay.
Compensation
this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $55,000.00 - $65,000.00
