Job Title: Head Grower – Specialty Mushrooms (Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Shiitake, Oyster)

Position Summary
The Head Grower is a hands-on leader responsible for the entire growing operation for our four core species. You will set and execute species-specific protocols, manage climate and sanitation, maintain quality standards, and train and supervise the existing grow/harvest team.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage crop schedules, substrate preparation, inoculation, incubation, pinning, fruiting, and harvest for Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Shiitake, and Oyster.
- Maintain species-specific climate, humidity, CO₂, fresh air, light, and watering recipes; adjust based on crop data.
- Oversee harvest standards, post-harvest cooling, packaging, and quality grading.
- Enforce strict sanitation and contamination control; maintain HACCP/GMP/food safety readiness.
- Train, schedule, and supervise existing grow and harvest staff; ensure the team can spot crop stress, contamination, and harvest readiness.
- Track yields, biological efficiency, contamination rates, and quality; run trials and document SOPs.

Required Qualifications
Commercial mushroom cultivation experience, including Head Grower or Production Manager.
Hands-on experience with Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Shiitake, and Oyster.
Strong knowledge of substrate preparation, spawn run, fruiting, climate control, and contamination prevention.
Experience with climate control systems, sensors, and data logging.

Readiness to be on camera, be filmed in work progress, during meetings, special episodes, etc. Ability to speak on camera is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications
Degree in Mycology, Plant Science, Horticulture, Microbiology, or related field.
Organic certification and audit experience.
Mechanical aptitude for equipment troubleshooting.

Compensation

this position is: salaried, $75,000 - $100,000
