Job description
We are looking for a reliable, energetic, and customer-focused Sales Associate to join our small team at our Prospect Heights store.
The Role
This is a hands-on retail position. You’ll help customers, keep the store organized and well stocked, prepare products for sale, fulfill online orders, and help create the welcoming neighborhood experience Precycle is known for.
Because we are a small business, everyone pitches in. We’re looking for someone who notices what needs to be done and does it—not someone who waits to be asked.
Responsibilities include:
Greet customers and provide friendly, knowledgeable service
Help customers understand our products, bulk system, and reusable-container model
Operate the POS system and accurately process customer purchases
Restock shelves, refrigerators, produce displays, and bulk products
Fill, weigh, label, and prepare products for sale
Pick and pack online grocery orders accurately
Receive and organize deliveries
Monitor product quality, freshness, and expiration dates
Keep shelves, bulk areas, refrigerators, counters, and work areas clean and organized
Help maintain attractive product displays
Learn our product selection and make thoughtful recommendations to customers
Support occasional promotions, tastings, pop-ups, and store events
Store opening and closing responsibilities
Pitch in wherever needed to keep the store running smoothly
We’re Looking for Someone Who:
Is dependable and consistently shows up on time
Is warm, friendly, and genuinely enjoys helping people
Is comfortable working independently and taking initiative
Works efficiently and pays attention to details
Is organized and able to prioritize tasks during a busy shift
Is comfortable with the physical side of grocery retail, including standing for extended periods and lifting boxes
Is willing to clean, stock, organize, and do the less glamorous parts of running a great store
Is interested in food, sustainability, zero-waste living, local food systems, or environmental issues
Is comfortable learning new products and talking to customers about them
Has good communication skills and a positive, professional attitude
Previous grocery, food, hospitality, or retail experience is a plus, but we care just as much about reliability, initiative, and attitude.
Compensation
this position is: hourly, $16.50 - 20/hr
