Field Supply Wine is opening a tasting room on Warren Street in Hudson, NY: a place to pour our own natural wines alongside some of New York's most talented craft beverage producers, in a listening bar style space made for lingering and conversation.

We're looking for creative, collaborative people with real enthusiasm for natural wine, music and culture. At the heart of the space is the tasting experience, supported by a small plates menu, careful music curation, and a considered selection of wine and wares to take home.

Some roles will call for in-depth knowledge of wine, coffee and bar service, and every role comes with room to grow alongside the business. We're committed to ongoing training for the whole team, in natural wine, as well as experiential hospitality, third wave coffee and music.

Job description

Shifts Available: Thu/Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon/Tue - 12pm-5pm and 4pm-11pm
Note: Pay rate of $31-$40/hr is an estimated total of base hourly + equitable share of pooled tips

Expectations for our Bartender role include:

• Bartending and Barista skills: understanding of steps-of-service and preparation of: wine, craft cocktails, third wave espresso/coffee.
• Guest Engagement: Guiding patrons through the menu. Balancing an elevated and enveloping experience with a laid back, inviting atmosphere.
• Bar Upkeep: Setting up wells for service. Maintaining a clean and orderly workspace, stocking inventory, ingredient prep outside of service. Washing wares during service.
• Retail: checking out customers, maintaining and stocking products to set standards.
• Inventory & Storage: Label, date, and organize all perishable ingredients in refrigerators and storage areas, unpack incoming beverage and retail deliveries, restocking bar and retail.
• Clear communication with the team in and out of service.
• Always setting up the employee in the next shift for a successful service.
• Capacity to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Cleaning and shutdown tasks at closing.
• Closing out POS and cash drawer for the day.

Skills and qualifications:
Must have some degree of bartending experience. However, we will train anyone willing to learn! If you lack any of the following experience, don’t let it deter you. Personality and determination hold more value than outright experience.

• Understanding of natural wine, wine terminology, serving methods.
• Understanding of craft cocktails, spirits, terminology.
• An understanding of food allergens and how to effectively communicate sensitivities to guests and food prep staff.
• Attention to detail and respect for set standards.
• Ability to calmly sequence and prepare a string of multiple orders efficiently.
• Best practices in safely serving food & alcohol.
• Personable, engaging and helpful with guests and co-workers.
• A strong communicator.
• Make appropriate decisions when a manager is not present.
• Enthusiastic towards learning and evolving.
• Collective worker - this is a small staff and we all support each other with an “all hands” mindset.
• Food and alcohol serving certifications are a plus.
• Knowledge of Square is also a plus.
• Record collectors and music nerds are definitely a plus!
• An inclusive and nonjudgemental attitude towards co-workers and guests is a must.
