Company description
We started Big Ridge Farm in 2026 and are growing flowers, tree seedlings, and vegetables in our garden and greenhouse. We also have a small orchard and several bee hives, and a pasture ready for sheep next spring.
Job description
The Big Ridge Groundskeeper will care for the gardens, orchard, apiary, greenhouse, and grounds of Big Ridge Farm, and support the farm’s work for Big Ridge Mountain Club.
You will grow dahlias, sunflowers, zinnias, and other cut flowers, and open the garden for cut-your-own sales in summer and fall. You'll also grow and ship tree seedlings, tend the vegetable garden and orchard, and keep the bee hives. Sheep arrive in spring; their daily care will be part of the role. Honey, vegetables, and flowers are raised for club members as well as for sale.
Regular groundskeeping and site beautification are part of the job: mowing, paths, beds, and the general appearance of the farm.
The work is hands-on and seasonal, outdoors, and tied to the rhythm of the place.
Must have hands-on experience gardening, growing flowers or vegetables, or keeping grounds; be comfortable working outdoors in all seasons and keeping a place looking cared for; be reliable, able to work independently, and glad to learn; and capable of physically demanding work. Beekeeping and sheep experience are welcome but not required; you can learn both on the job.
