Growing GRASS is a multi-year project of the American Sustainable Business Network (ASBN), funded primarily by a USDA Advancing Markets for Producers (AMP) grant aimed at increasing the total supply and value of regeneratively grazed beef and bison, including byproducts.

The Growing GRASS Value-Added U.S. Commodity Markets Project (Growing GRASS Project) will help U.S. beef and bison producers optimize total returns from their livestock, with a specific focus on regenerative markets and optimized valuation/use of byproducts. The commodity market value of hides and other meat processing byproducts has dropped significantly in recent years - especially for small-medium sized meat plants - with these materials increasingly being disposed of as waste, instead of being collected and sold. At the same time, there are higher-value markets - including grassfed and regenerative - that can offer US producers more value for both meat and byproducts, but access to these markets can be costly and difficult for producers and processors alike, and byproduct collection infrastructure and markets are lacking.

The Growing GRASS Project was created to help address these barriers and allow for greater whole animal use and valuation, increasing local meat supply chain resiliency.

Job description

The Growing GRASS Project is seeking an organized, relational professional to join our team as the Producer Support Associate. This position will support eligible US producers to enroll in and engage with Growing GRASS-funded opportunities.

This person will join a remote administrative team working with dozens of programming partners and hundreds of producers from across the country. The successful candidate for the Producer Support Associate position will be organized, adaptive, self-motivated, with strong communication skills and the ability to understand agricultural terms and situations.
