Atlanta Farmers Market Ops Lead
- Date October 30, 2026
- Location Atlanta, GA
- Category Agriculture / Business
- Job type Part-Time
Company description
Blackwater Pastures is a family-owned regenerative cattle farm in South Georgia raising cattle on pasture and producing high-quality beef for families throughout Georgia.
Our approach begins with the land. We use rotational grazing, seasonal forage, and thoughtful herd management to build healthier soil, improve pasture productivity, and create a farming system that works with the natural resources around us. We believe good food starts with responsible stewardship, healthy animals, and a direct connection between the people raising food and the people eating it.
We sell our beef directly through farmers markets, Blackwater Beef Shares, online ordering, and local pickup. Atlanta has become an especially important part of our business, where we have built a strong community of repeat customers through neighborhood farmers markets and direct relationships.
Blackwater is a small, hands-on business, which means the people who work with us have a meaningful impact on how the company operates and grows. We value reliability, initiative, organization, curiosity, good communication, and people who take ownership of their responsibilities. We want team members who notice opportunities, solve problems, build relationships with customers, and bring ideas forward.
We are continuing to expand our Atlanta operations and are building the systems, logistics, and team needed to support that growth. For someone interested in regenerative agriculture, local food, direct-to-consumer business, farmers markets, logistics, or small-business operations, Blackwater offers the opportunity to take real ownership, contribute ideas, and have a visible impact on a growing farm and food business.
Our goal is to build a business that supports the land, the animals we raise, the people who work with us, and the communities that choose to buy their food directly from a farm they know.

Blackwater Pastures is hiring a part-time Atlanta Farmers Market Operations Lead to take ownership of our weekend farmers market operation in Atlanta.
This is a strong fit for someone who wants meaningful, hands-on work with a growing local food business and enjoys customer interaction, sales, logistics, independent responsibility, and problem-solving.
Compensation
- $25/hour
Expected winter compensation of approximately $450–$500 per week at the current schedule and recent market performance - $200/month Reliability & Execution Bonus

- 7.5% commission on weekly commissionable market sales above $3,000
- $25 bonus for each new Blackwater Beef Share customer attributable to your market efforts who places a reservation deposit
- Company-provided Ford Transit market van
What the Role Looks Like
During the winter season, you will primarily operate one Saturday farmers market and our year-round Grant Park market on Sunday.
You will also make approximately two restocking trips each month to our South Georgia farm and participate in a one-hour Monday sales and operations meeting.
You will not simply stand behind a market booth. You will have ownership of making sure your markets are prepared, properly stocked, professionally presented, and well executed.
Core Responsibilities
- Operate approximately two Atlanta farmers markets each weekend
- Set up and break down the market booth
- Provide knowledgeable, friendly customer service and develop relationships with repeat customers
- Help grow sales through product knowledge, merchandising, thoughtful recommendations, and strong market execution
- Introduce interested customers to our Blackwater Beef Share program
- Manage and organize market inventory and identify restocking needs
- Track customer requests, product movement, and sales opportunities
- Operate Shopify POS and our barcode/catch-weight inventory system
- Drive and responsibly care for a company-provided Ford Transit
- Store the van at your residence and keep the onboard freezer plugged in and secure
- Make approximately two restocking trips per month to our South Georgia farm
- Participate in a one-hour Monday sales and operations meeting
- Come to the Monday meeting prepared to discuss sales, inventory, customer feedback, and ideas for the following weekend
- Identify problems proactively and communicate clearly when something needs attention
Schedule
The current winter schedule averages approximately 15–16 hours per week across the month:
Saturday market: approximately 5 hours
Sunday market: approximately 5 hours
Monday sales and operations meeting: approximately 1 hour
Two South Georgia restocking trips per month: approximately 10 hours each
Weekend availability and early morning reliability are essential.
As our Atlanta program grows, there may be opportunities for additional markets, increased hours, higher earnings, staff coordination, and greater operational responsibility.
Who We’re Looking For
We are less concerned with having the perfect résumé than finding someone who is dependable, organized, personable, self-directed, and comfortable taking ownership.
You may be a strong fit if you:
Enjoy talking with customers and helping them make purchasing decisions
Like working independently
Notice when something could be improved and take initiative
Are comfortable managing multiple moving parts
Take pride in being prepared and on time
Are interested in local food, regenerative agriculture, retail, sales, logistics, or small-business operations
Want a part-time role where your contribution is visible and meaningful
Experience with farmers markets, retail, hospitality, sales, food service, inventory, logistics, or Shopify POS is helpful but not required.
Reliability is extremely important in this role.
Requirements
- Consistent Saturday and Sunday availability
- Ability to meet early morning market start times
- Comfortable driving and storing a Ford Transit cargo van
- Ability to make approximately two monthly trips to our South Georgia farm
- Ability to regularly lift and move approximately 40 lbs
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working independently and engaging directly with customers
Opportunity to Grow
Blackwater Pastures is actively working to expand our Atlanta presence, particularly into additional high-performing Saturday and Sunday farmers markets.
This role could grow beyond operating two markets into additional market responsibility, staff coordination, inventory and logistics leadership, and a larger role in our Atlanta operation.
We are looking for someone who can succeed in the role we need today and potentially grow with the operation we are building for tomorrow.
How to Apply
Please send us a short note including your relevant experience, why the role interests you, confirmation that you can consistently work Saturdays and Sundays, confirmation that you can store the company van and make the required farm trips, and a brief example of a responsibility where others depended on you to show up and follow through without close supervision.
A résumé is welcome but not required.
We are reviewing applications as they arrive and encourage interested candidates to apply early. Selected candidates may be invited to participate in a paid market work-with as part of the interview process.
