Over the last 27 years, Growing Gardens has brought urban farming, gardening, nutrition education and produce donations to over 162,000 Boulder County residents.
We farm a total of 3 acres of vegetables and 2 acres of orchard crops, run three large greenhouses with an impressive nursery operation, and rotationally graze a small herd of dairy goats all in the heart of Boulder and Longmont, Colorado. Job description

This position will support the growing team in all aspects of farming, but specializes in greenhouse and nursery production, orchard care and management and caring for our Children’s Garden - a space that is used throughout the growing season as a teaching and exploration space for our children’s programs, with support from our Farm Managers.

The person we are seeking for this position is a plant lover, a strong communicator, and enjoys keeping plants, living systems, and people thriving. They enjoy working independently and as a part of a team.

Job Status: Full Time, Hourly, Seasonal Employee

40 hours per week March 1 - October 29, 2027

Job Term: This is a grant funded one year position, ending October 2027. There is potential and desire of Growing Gardens to extend this to a multi-year position.

Reports To: Boulder Farm Manager

Pay: $20.50 - $23.00 Depending on experience and Spanish language abilities

Preferred start date: March 1, 2027

Benefits:

• 40 hrs of PTO for the season, in addition to 3 federal holidays (pick from Memorial Day, Juneteenth, July 4, Labor Day, Frances Xavier Cabrini Day) and 2 growing team shutdown days. Total of 80 hours of paid PTO and Holiday
• Paid Sick Leave accrues at a rate of 1 hour for every 30 hours worked, max of 48 hours.

• 50% off at our plant sale and 50% off additional produce at our farm stand that was grown on our farm

Primary Job Functions:

• Greenhouse work to support growing for farms, donation programs and our Plant Sale.
• Farm work including, seeding, transplanting, weeding, pest and disease management, cover cropping, irrigation installation and repairs, mowing, harvesting, washing and packing produce.
• Leading interns, volunteers, and other program participants in farm projects.
• Helping tend to our 100 fruit tree orchard and orchard understory with support from our farm management team. This includes organic pest and disease management, plant health monitoring, and fruit health and production.
• Care and maintenance of our Children’s Garden for production and educational goals.
• This job is outside in all weather conditions and involves many contact hours with program participants (children, teens, interns, volunteers, adults, etc).
• Staff alternate throughout the season with weekend greenhouse watering shifts (1-2 hours each) and this position may support Wednesday evening CSA pickups and Farm Stand, which run 3:30-7pm, June through October.
• Greenhouse and harvest inventory and record keeping
• Support farm events or other programming as needed. This may include set-up, break-down, and staffing of events.
