Internship Overview The Chez Panisse Foundation (CPF) and Chez Panisse Restaurant (CPR) are offering an unpaid internship to students or recent graduates wishing to gain experience in a stimulating and fast-paced work environment. The intern will support the Director of Communications for CPF/CPR, assisting with a variety of activities related to advancing our mission through external/internal communications and research. Responsibilities include day-to-day tasks and short-term projects.
About the Chez Panisse Foundation CPF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded by Alice Waters in 1996. CPF is committed to transforming public education by operating and supporting programs that use food traditions to teach, nurture, and empower young people. The Foundation envisions a curriculum, integrated with the school lunch service and a wonderful dining experience, in which growing, cooking, and sharing food at the table give students the knowledge and values to build a humane and sustainable future. www.chezpanissefoundation.org
About the Restaurant CPR was started by Alice Waters and a group of friends in 1971. From the beginning, the restaurant championed fresh, organic and locally grown products. Although a novelty at the time, these values have been brought into the mainstream by Chez Panisse and Alice Waters. www.chezpanisse.com.
Primary Responsibilities
- Monitor news stories and developments pertinent to our workHelp maintain press databases/contacts and photo archives
- Monitor and update social media, including Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and websites
- Draft and/or proofread various written materials such as press releases, media advisories, newsletter copy, book blurbs or forwards, and other publicity materials
- Field information requests and assist in interfacing with press, supporters, and public
- Assist in coordinating logistics and producing collateral for events and special projects such as media opportunities, fundraisers, and new publications
- Conduct short research assignments
Requirements
- Excellent writing and other communication skills
- Ability to manage deadlines in fast-paced environment
- Excellent general knowledge of the sustainable food movement
- Creative and flexible
- Work well independently and collaboratively
Duration & Compensation Unpaid internship, Chez Panisse lunch provided
4 months, 4 days per week (25 hours)
