Metro Pedal Power offers eco-friendly solutions for last mile delivery in urban areas.
Our emissions-free pedal-trucks work in all weather, carrying up to 500 lbs.
We provide local parcel service, route delivery and on-demand trucking services for businesses such as wholesale manufacturers and distributors, printing and reprographics services, restaurants and caterers, local farms, retail stores and more.
THE POSITION
Operations manager is a key player in the success and profitability of the company. S/he works closely alongside the Executive Director to maintain and enhance the health of the organization, and is directly responsible for maintaining a positive work environment and a smooth, efficient work flow on a daily basis. Operations manager organizes and plans the daily deliveries and routes targeting the highest possible efficiency; s/he directs, dispatches and provides support for the delivery drivers; and works to balance the operational capacity of the organization with the needs/expectations of the market. Operations Manager is aligned with the goals and mission of the company and provides input on the vision, strategy, and execution. S/he develops an in-depth knowledge of client base/workflow and has the ability to drive customer satisfaction, and employee performance and morale.
Essential Functions:
Delivery Scheduling, Route Planning

Review, organize, and schedule all delivery and hauling work. Compile daily job lists in database and optimize for most efficient routes.

Maintain balance between customer needs, resource availability, and overall efficient work flow.
Managing Drivers, Dispatching Jobs

Establish and maintain feedback loops with all co-workers. Communicate with drivers about daily workplan, special jobs, and any issues or concerns.

Provide support and ongoing training for drivers and assist as needed. Ensure that drivers are well equipped to carry out all assigned tasks.

Empower drivers to take responsibility for their work and solve problems they may encounter.
Customer Relationships

Develop an understanding of customer needs and expectations. Work with Director to develop, maintain, and build relationships with both new and existing customers and partners.

Troubleshoot problems if/when they occur. Communicate with customers, partners, drivers, and Executive Director as needed to solve problems gracefully. Ensure communication is positive, resolute, and helpful
Organizational Development

Operations Manager is an active participant in crafting a business strategy that is coherent, relevant, and achievable.

Regularly assess operational capacity and market opportunities in collaboration with Executive Director.
Other Responsibilities
-
Ride delivery routes as needed. (~10 hrs/week)

Track employee hours and submit for payroll.

Create weekly/monthly customer invoices.
-
Receive customer payments and create deposits.
-
Assist director in the hiring and training process for new drivers.
-
Assist director in tracking driver performance and job profitability.
-
Coordinate with Fleet Manager on vehicle needs and issues.
-
Other tasks and projects as needed.
