Job description
The Public Relations Manager collaborates with members of the media, our chefs, general managers, and the Public Relations & Marketing team to help tell the story of Union Square Hospitality Group (USHG) and its family of restaurants and businesses. The successful candidate will demonstrate impeccable communication skills, strategic thinking, and a practiced ability to deliver media coverage that advances brand and businesses goals.
REPORTING TO: Director of Public Relations
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Media Relations

Build relationships and maintain regular communication with food and lifestyle media to secure regular placements

Collaborate with USHG business leaders to identify creative story angles, write timely and compelling copy, and pitch media

Secure and facilitate media interviews for USHG business leaders and assist with media requests for images and general information

Manage media calendar and oversee maintenance and updates to USHG’s media contacts lists

Monitor food and lifestyle media trends and report findings to PR & Marketing Team and USHG business leaders
Event Strategy:

Plan and coordinate media events that build the USHG brand and cultivate new and existing media relationships

Maintain company-wide public events calendar and help pitch USHG talent for culinary, industry, and community events

Assist USHG business leaders with media and public relations at culinary, industry, and community events

Represent USHG at industry and media events in New York City
Skills/Requirements Technical:
-
Existing relationships with food, lifestyle, and/or hospitality media

Excellent writing and editing skills, including pitches and daily correspondence

Superior interpersonal skills and ability to earn trust and respect from colleagues

Strong planning and organizational skills

Fluent in the latest digital practices for social media management for a brand

Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with a working knowledge of Cision, Twitter, Hootsuite, and other public relations tools

A team-oriented approach

A sense of humor is a plus!
Education and Work Experience:
-
Four to six years of PR experience in the hospitality, food, or beverage industry

Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field
Language: English
Physical: Involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
