The Eat Real Festival is an educational program of the non-profit Food Craft Institute (FCI), teaching traditional food making techniques and focusing on the creation of viable artisan food businesses in the United States. Job description
Food Craft Institute (FCI) is seeking a Vendor Manager to join the Eat Real Festival Team.
The Vendor Manager is responsible for vendor outreach, correspondence and support for the Eat Real Festival in Oakland, CA on September 23-25, 2016. Reporting to the Event Producer and Event Manager, the selected individual will coordinate up to 100 different food and beverage vendors for the Eat Real Festival.
Position Responsibilities:
Vendor Management
- Work closely ERF Management Team (Event Producer and Event Manager) to coordinate Food & Beverage Vendors for the Festival.
- Manage vendor recruitment and outreach as needed, via phone, email and in person.
- Coordinate all vendor logistical information and manage all vendor permits, licenses, contracts, insurance, fees and special requests.
- Work with vendors to finalize sales offerings, menus sourcing & pricing.
- Answer relevant phone calls, questions, and manage all correspondence with ERF vendors.
- Organize vendor files and maintain up-to-the-minute list of participating vendors.
- Meet with Alameda Health Department and Fire Department to be up to date on 2016 regulations.
- Work with vendors to insure they navigate the necessary permit processes correctly.
- Broker introductions and coordinate relationships between vendors and ERF chosen producers of sustainably grown and locally raised meat and produce.
- Coordinate on-site logistics, vendor load-in/load-out and vendor check out on Sept 23-25, 2016 in Oakland.
- Work with ERF Management Team to coordinate vendor staffing on site.
- Attend weekly Eat Real Festival team meetings and represent ERF Vendor Program at any necessary meetings outside of office.
- Report to directly to Event Manager and Production Director.
- Delegate tasks to Vendor/Program Intern.
Festival Programming
- Work with Event Manager to integrate ERF vendors into Festival programming i.e. food demos, DIY sessions and craft collaborations.
Post-Festival Wrap-up
- Arrange for all correspondence to be sent to ERF Food & Beverage Vendors post-event.
- Compile all vendor fee, revenue payout and feedback into wrap-up documentation post-event.
- Represent Vendor Program in post-event Wrap Meeting
Our Ideal Vendor Manager will have the following skills/traits:
- Experience cultivating relationships (and eating) with Bay Area food trucks and booths, pop-ups, chefs, craft food makers and restaurateurs.
- Experience with food events, festivals, conferences, and/or seminars.
- Experience in customer service and administration.
- Demonstrated ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint; Google Apps and Mail including Google Calendar and Docs.
- Attention to detail and exemplary organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task, think and react quickly and make well-educated decisions.
- Ability to speak Spanish a plus.
- Committed to healthy eating and local, sustainable, organic and accessible food and agriculture.
- High energy, outgoing “people” person.
TERMS: This is a contract position which goes from May through the end of September, with the first two months part-time, and beginning full time in July. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
