About The Brooklyn Kitchen:
The Brooklyn Kitchen is a family owned and operated kitchen supply store, green grocer, and cooking school. We are committed to carrying high quality products from local producers, as well as an assortment of kitchen products that cater to Brooklyn’s home cooks. You will find things in our store that you might not see in larger stores, or anywhere for that matter. Our Cooking School “The Brooklyn Kitchen Labs” offers a variety of classes aimed at home cooks that include: basic knife skills, pig butchering, vegan tamales, mini cupcakes, and Persian dinners. We also host classes in DIY food skills, such as canning, fermentation, and beer brewing. We strive to provide a diverse mix of regularly scheduled and seasonally appropriate classes that are taught by local culinary professionals.

Position Overview:
Class and Events Assistant Duties include but are not limited to:

• lab/classroom maintenance and organization.
• assistance with set up and running of cooking classes
• food sourcing and preparation
• assistance with private and public events (cooking classes, cookbook release events, and catered parties)
• develop familiarity with our point of sales system

Requirements:

• previous culinary or food
• related retail experience are preferred
• comfortable using Microsoft Office suite
• must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
• ideal candidate can problem solve in fast paced, customer service oriented environment
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
