We are in the process of launching our flagship farm in Brooklyn, NY which will supply produce to local NYC Whole Foods stores.

Job description
We are seeking an Operations Manager who cares deeply about employee engagement, fostering effective teamwork, and providing exceptional customer service through safe, reliable, and delicious food. Like all positions at Edenworks, this one is hands on, interactive, and requires effective communication skills. The candidate will oversee operations related to farming, harvesting, packing, delivery, and in store product integrity of our greens and fish. 

 

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-8 years of relevant related experience in food manufacturing, ready to eat produce, or similar process manufacturing operations
  • Experience opening and establishing a new food manufacturing facility is highly preferred
  • Agility, able to adjust to changing conditions easily
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to maintain employee engagement
  • Superior management skills with ability to engage and communicate effectively with the entire team
  • Experience working with enterprise / manufacturing resource planning systems, material handling systems, trucking and logistics, and contract negotiations
  • Highly organized with strong written communication skills
  • The ability to thrive with constructive feedback
  • Understands, models, complies with, and enforces company policies

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Ensure successful day-to-day operations, with assistance from the Horticulture Manager
  • Ensure ongoing farm compliance with company quality, sanitation, and food safety standards
  • Implement and maintain standard procedures for employee training and management, inventory (both raw materials and finished products), distribution and logistics, sanitation, overall safety of the facility and its personnel, and compliance with Food Safety Procedures (GAP, GMP, and HACCP plans)
  • Ensure customer happiness and product turnover by making site visits and collecting quality assurance data (including, but not limited to cold chain management and product placement)
  • Organize shift schedules with Horticulture Manager and coordinate purchasing
  • Coordinate with Construction Manager to identify structural and maintenance related issues, arrange repairs, and ensure resolution in a timely manner
  • Evaluate and improve GAPs and GMPs on an ongoing basis
  • Establish and track metrics, set timelines, work with the team to amend issues which arise
  • Ensure employee engagement and use effective management skills to address issues which may arise
  • Maintain and review Quality Assurance data to ensure reliable quality product
  • Negotiate vendor pricing for supplies and related contracts
  • Collaborate with our engineers on development and maintenance of Enterprise Resourcing Planning tools
  • Communicate effectively with all team members to support continued company growth
  • Coach employees to grow within the company
  • Comply with established State and Federal Regulations, Environmental, OSHA, and Safety programs

Requirements

  • Able to lift, carry, push or pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Able to stand for 8 hour shifts and engage in activities such as bending and squatting if necessary
