The Food Craft Institute seeks a Communications Manager who will work with a team of Management, staff and consultants to implement marketing and communications strategy within 4 primary components of FCI; external communications, digital communications, educational events, and fundraising and development.

 

External Communications

  • Continue to build brand and name recognition for Food Craft Institute and Eat Real Festival (ERF).
  • Devise best practices, tools and resources that will lead to new the growth and expansion of the FCI and ERF brands.
  • Cultivate ongoing strategic partnerships for FCI.
  • Build strong relationships with public relations and media agencies to expand and celebrate the public face of FCI and ERF.
  • Serve as primary contact for FCI public relations; monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of any PR services or media campaigns
  • Budget and manage all printed advertising campaigns for the organization
  • Lead creation of educational assets such as white papers, case studies, videos and presentations.

 

Digital Communications: Website, Newsletters and Social Media

  • Establish Food Craft Institute “Voice” and increase web and social media traffic to FCI and ERF sites -– in alignment with brand and mission.
  • Lead and drive engagement for FCI and ERF via digital marketing efforts.
  • Establish key performance indicators (KPI’s) and analytics that you will then use to determine applications of FCI and ERF digital communications.
  • Lead contracted design staff in updates of FCI and ERF websites and collateral.
  • Improve and streamline FCI class registration communications and processes.

 

Educational Events

  • Provide year-round management and oversight for ERF website, print and digital promotional materials, designs and signage.
  • Develop and maintain ERF marketing calendars and deadlines.
  • Coordinate regular marketing updates and planning meetings with ERF consultants as needed.
  • Assist the Executive Director in building new educational initiatives for FCI.
  • Plan, optimize and manage other FCI special events, programs, courses, and events.

 

Fundraising and Development

  • Based on ERF’s fundraising history and goals, help to develop and implement a sponsorship/partnership marketing strategy – print and digital.
  • Develop specific partnership marketing packages and negotiate those packages for mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Assist the Executive Director in management and implementation of co-promotional partnership packages
  • Assist the Executive Director in creation of development assets such as pitch decks, prospectus, and annual reports.

  

Admin/Other

  • Work with Executive Director (ED) to develop and implement course curriculums.
  • Coordinate FCI classes and events to meet high standards for accuracy, quality, creativity and timeliness.
  • Staff FCI events and effectively delegates to and supervises volunteers and assistants.
  • Train and manage FCI interns, establish protocol and tasks for new hires
  • Other duties as assigned

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Background in marketing, communications, design and/or public relations, particularly within specialty food sector. 
  • Demonstrated ability with various software programs including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Apps, MailChimp, Wordpress (or similar CMS) and Adobe products (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop).
  • Excellent attention to detail, exemplary organizational skills and ability to manage and prioritize various ongoing projects. 
  • Solid customer service and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and foster internal and external relationships.
  • Passion to cultivate relationships with craft food makers, chefs and local community organizations.
