Do you have experience in public relations, publicity and/or communications, perhaps including: media relations, pitch writing and event planning? Have an interest in the world of food: from top chefs and restaurants to cooking and the business of food? Are you an ambitious talent looking to step up and prove yourself by storming onto the food scene in an exciting PR role?

The Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) is looking for a full-time Public Relations Associate, to work alongside the Public Relations Director and become part of a collaborative marketing team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a strong work ethic and excellent writing and organizational skills. Attention to detail and an ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment are essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in public relations, media pitching, event planning, writing, social media, video production, and have an interest in food and cooking.

 

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Support public relations plan with media relations research, media outreach, including writing press materials and pitch emails
  • Leverage existing media relations and cultivate new contacts within industry media
  • Assist in managing media inquiries and interview requests and build relationships with thought leaders, editors and bloggers
  • Contribute to ICE’s marketing event planning and logistics
  • Staying on top of news/trends/issues relevant to ICE and food industry

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-4 years of communications, public relations or comparable job experience
  • Media relations experience and experience working with and pitching to reporters
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects, in varying stages of development simultaneously
  • Ability to write and edit high quality written materials
  • Working knowledge of social media platforms
  • Degree in a related field or equivalent experience, job knowledge and success
