About Local Bushel:

Local Bushel is a marketplace for wholesale buyers to source sustainable food from local farms. Local Bushel sells high-quality local food at a price and level of convenience that is competitive to commercially distributed food, empowering farmers and making good food accessible. Local Bushel's goal is make transparently sourced ingredients the new norm and drive a fundamental shift in chefs' expectations for quality.

The position:

• You are leading the strategic expansion of Local Bushel’s network of farms and local purveyors and negotiating supply agreements with a wide network of farms and purveyors
• This is a full-time position based in New York City, with flexibility around working from home and working from the field

Responsibilities:

• Network with farms and industry members to meet new producers
• Negotiate supply and partnership agreements with farms and purveyors
• Work closely with the Sales Manager to forecast availability, meet pricing and profitability goals, secure high-quality supply, and fill anticipated gaps
• Provide direction, development and mentorship to one direct report
• Partner with the operations team to train on product quality and ensure quality is met through the entire process
• Share the stories of our products and farmers with the rest of our team and with our customers

Qualifications:

• 2-5 years of purchasing experience with wholesale buying of produce or meat
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
• Experience managing a team
• Willingness to spend a majority of your time out in the field
• Owns a vehicle and has a valid driver's license
• Lack of dietary restrictions (you’ll be required to sample a wide variety of amazing locally sourced food)
• Passionate about Local Bushel’s mission to make local food more accessible

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $60,000.00 - $70,000.00
