Through research, teaching and community service, the mission of the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies is to generate and disseminate knowledge to effect sustainable change in the well-being of local, urban, and global communities. One of the first master’s degree programs in the US devoted to food scholarship, the Department employs approaches from the humanities and social sciences, and prepares students to analyze the current American food system, its global connections, and local alternatives.
