Ploughgate Creamery, located at the historic Bragg Farm in Fayston, Vermont is currently seeking an Assistant Butter Maker.

We are a female operated company that currently produces 450 lbs of cultured butter a week. Our products are mainly sold to specialty food stores and restaurants in the Northeast. This is a small-scale, tight knit operation that is in the process of expanding production.

The Assistant Butter Maker’s production responsibilities include cleaning, sanitizing, loading cream, operating the churn, washing, kneading, salting and portioning the butter. Outreach responsibilities will involve commuting one to four times per month to local shops and markets to sample the product. Additionally, assistance with the setup and breakdown of special events hosted at the farm will be required (we host ~5 events per summer/fall season).

Exceptional organizational skills, a valid driver’s license and a working vehicle are required and you will be expected to regularly lift over 50 lbs. Experience in farming is a plus but more important is the desire to learn and remain passionate about the process of butter making.

20+ hours a week to start, with potential for full-time if the fit seems right.
