FEW THINGS ARE AS POWERFUL . . .

as a good book. These days it seems like everything is trending toward faster, more frequent sound bites, but we still love something into which you can really sink your teeth. Forget the articles with a progress bar or a feature that tells you how many minutes it will take you to consume. To us, there is nothing better than pulling your chair into a sunny spot and drinking in chapter after chapter after chapter. With all of the competing distractions of the modern world, it can seem like a luxury - but perhaps the most accessible, worthwhile luxury we can imagine.

This week's tidbits reveal some of our favorite books from the past year of reading. We also encourage you to take a slow wander through the Dix Street Garden in our latest GFJ story.

Cheers,

tidbits...

what we’re reading / listening to / watching / noticing / thinking about / captivated by this Tuesday…

Growing plants and growing people: The Power of a Plant educates you while keeping you highly entertained.

The Good Neighbor goes to the deeper places that I wished Won't You Be My Neighbor (the documentary film about the beloved television series, Mr. Rogers) explored - and had endless reminders that the hard way may not be the most popular, but in the end are often the most impactful and rewarding.

Being Mortal by Atul Gawande is a book to linger over, and will leave you with thoughts and questions well after you close its cover. For those plant lovers out there, greenery plays a vital role in one of the chapters.

Amy Fusselman's Savage Park is a slim read - a cross between memoir and nonfiction - that will blow your mind with its mysteries.
