ISSUE NO. 431

THE EASE OF THE INTERNET . . .

has done wonders to increase communication. It's possible to shoot off an email from just about anywhere, comment on an image while crossing the street (although we don't recommend it), or respond to a newsletter (like this one - we are always at the other end of the line) in the blink of an eye.

But, as we well know, quantity does not equal quality. The accessibility of communication can provide a false sense of connection, and the veil of anonymity can drive people apart.

This week, we urge you to remember and practice face-to-face communication - whether that means opting to see your friends and cohorts in person rather than online, or treating an anonymous online connection as if it were an in-person exchange. Lower the invisible shield we call the internet, and you just might find out what it means to be truly connected.
