ISSUE NO. 430

TODAY, WE VOTED.

It's one of the things we can do.

What can you do?

Some of us refuse to participate in the election cycle, some of us are denied access to it. Whether or not voting is part of the action that you want to take toward a world you feel good about living in, we encourage you to think about what else you can do in between the elections.

Talk to people - don't just profess your own opinions, but truly listen to others and remain curious. Ask questions. People are often saying the same thing, but may be speaking a different language.

Stand up for injustices when you see them. Firmly point them out - expressing concern over judgement. It's not easy. Try anyway.

Recognize the spectrum. Everyone won't get it right all the time, but don't stop encouraging people to move in the right direction. Big change happens with millions of small changes. And practice with small changes makes people more comfortable with bigger changes. Build the momentum.

If you feel disenchanted, ask around. Humans thrive on connection and chances are that there are others out there that also crave a better way. How do you think GFJ came about in the first place?
