We distribute Good Bowls through retail channels, worksite wellness programs, NC Medicaid’s Healthy Opportunities Pilot and a variety of other programs addressing food equity. Job description
Position Overview:
The Manager of Grants and Business Administration plays a critical role in budgeting, tracking grant progress and costs, and maintaining the business admin side of Equiti Foods. This person plans the company budget and ensures that projects are executed within the budget. This role also includes invoicing, approving timesheets, HR tasks, maintaining good status for the business, sending grant update reports to our funders, and identifying as well as applying for new grants.
Key Responsibilities:
Grants/Finance Administration:
- Collaborate with the full Equiti Foods Team on achieving the mission of the Company
- Work with Grants Manager to send updates about grant and budget progress to the appropriate funders.
- Help manage and make progress on grant implementation.
- Lead effort to create, update, and track Equiti Foods budget.
- Manage the relationship with external accounting firm to ensure accuracy of financial statements
- Work with the external accounting firm to send reimbursement requests for grants.
- Look for and help apply for new grant funding.
- Attend to various administrative tasks that need to be done for each of the grants (vendor forms, invoices, mailing payments, etc.)
- Be listed as Key Executive on bank account. Track and categorize team spending from the account.
Business Administration:
- Coordinate and facilitate team weekly team meetings (create agenda and bring up necessary conversation topics for the team to discuss). Foster community and collaboration amongst team members.
- Collaborate with the Equiti Foods management team to build and inform key business strategies and goals.
- Attend to administrative business needs including insurance, bills, registration with the state, bank account, etc.
- Manage company accounts with Google Workspace, grant websites, sites used to pay bills, softwares, etc.
Other tasks:
- Recruit and onboard new team members when appropriate.
- Manage and approve appropriate team member timesheets and expenses.
- Serve as Practicum Advisor for any students who intern with Good Bowls.
- Help with the formation of the nonprofit legal entity (purchasing insurance, organizing accounting needs for the new nonprofit).
- Other tasks as deemed necessary.
Desired Qualifications, Experience & Skills:
- Passion for equitable, local food systems.
- Experience coordinating and leading a small team.
- Experience with grant budgeting and reporting.
- Proficiency with various software (Google Drive, Excel, Xero).
- Perseverance and optimism through obstacles.
- Desire to work in a “scrappy” startup environment and desire to help build it into something bigger/better.
Work Hours:
This is a full-time position (40 hr/week) with a salary of $30-$35/hr, depending on experience. The work hours can be flexible, but there are mandatory weekly team meetings. The position is mostly remote, but there will be some travel throughout the Research Triangle area (Pittsboro, Hillsborough, Chapel Hill).
