Café-restaurant and catering establishment in Katonah, NY seeks an experienced and skilled chef.
The Katonah Reading Room is currently gearing up for its grand opening. We are a café and gourmet market with a farm to table philosophy. Candidates must be interested in, and embrace the start up phase of our operations.
The Chef will be responsible for all back-of-house elements, including preparing food daily for take away and cafe service, special orders and catered events.
Specifically, the Chef will:
- Develop menus
- Cost menu items
- Manage food costs
- Manage ordering for café, restaurant and catering
- Create and manage kitchen schedules
- Mentor and support back-of-house staff
- Liaise between kitchen and front-of-house staff
- Operate an immaculate and safe facility
Ideal candidate must:
- Have proven knowledge of cooking procedures, safety and sanitation
- Be intimately familiar with multiple kitchen stations
- Ensure quality of product and accuracy
- Be able to lift 25 lbs or more
- Hold DOH certification or Serv Safe Certification
Reporting Relationships:
- Chef will report to General Manager
- Back-of-house staff will report to Chef
Hours:
- Full Time: 5 to 6 Days a week
Compensation:
- $50,000-$65,000 commensurate with experience
