The MOA promotes the interests of the organic sector, addresses issues of importance to the organic sector, and helps to create growth opportunities by promoting the benefits, integrity and development of the organic supply chain.

Position Description:

Project Objective: 

The Manitoba Organic Alliance (MOA), in consultation with the organic sector, has recently developed an Action Plan for the organic sector. The organization requires a fundraising strategy in order to implement the Action Plan.

The successful consultant will:
  • Meet with MOA executive and relevant MAFRD staff to identify the organization’s fundraising needs and to better understand the funding opportunities within the sector.
  • Develop a fundraising and implementation strategy that includes:
  1. A comprehensive approach to membership (membership categories, fee structure, recruitment and retention strategies)
  2. Report containing recommendations for a diversified fundraising strategy with analysis of the potential for individual donations (online and direct marketing), sponsorships, grants, government funding, special events and the contribution of each to an overall strategy. Emphasis should be placed on a strategy that will cover the core costs of MOA that are not related to projects (administration)
  3. Present the strategy to the MOA board of directors via teleconference
MOA seeks an experienced professional with the following skills:
  • Professional fundraising experience and a strong record of success
  • Experience with membership based organizations
  • Professional experience with the types of fundraising listed above
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Membership in the Canadian Association of Fundraising Professionals preferred
  • Ability to meet the deadline.
The first draft of the fundraising strategy is due on February 1, 2015.

The final strategy must be received by March 1, 2015.

Consultants Fee: $7,000 (including GST)
