Job Description
North Cove Mushrooms, in Madison Virginia, grows chemical free Shiitake, Oyster, Lions Mane, and Maitake Mushrooms. We grow indoors, year round, and sell at six farmers markets. We also have a certified kitchen where we produce mushroom based foods and medicinal products including Ravioli, gluten free vegan shiitake burgers, GFV oyster mushroom SeaCakes (crab cakes), mushroom artichoke dip, salt mix, tea, tinctures, and more.
We are seeking someone to help in the kitchen making these products. Kitchen work is tuesday thru thursday,6 to 8 hour days, plus Farmers Markets on the weekends (saturday and/or sunday). In store demo's at health foods stores, cooking food at farmers markets and festivals will all be a part of this job. Selling mushrooms at farmers markets year round will be a part of the job, and you will be trained at the greenhouse in mushroom production as well. This job will grow and evolve.
We are also seeking someone to work in the grow room, no experience necessary. Grow room work is usually tuesday thru thursday four to six hours per day. Some construction work may be included, if you are interested.
Selling mushrooms at farmers markets (saturday and/or sunday) year round will be a part of the job.
Farmers markets are in Charlottesville, Harrisonburg, and DC/ Maryland. a reliable vehicle is a must! This is a full time job which requires a large vehicle (SUV, van, wagon, or truck), and a smart phone.
We pay $400 per week. In exchange, you will do at least one market per week year round; and work 20- 30 hours during the week doing whatever is on your project list. Some weeks are lighter and some weeks are heavier on work, the main focus is to accomplish the tasks on the project list.
These are awesome jobs doing lots of different things each day, yet having a reliable schedule. Working indoors, out doors, and on your feet. Responsibility, and work that allows you to be creative, use your brain, solve problems; work that you can be proud of. We will teach you a lot of skills.
