Job description

Program Coordinator Responsibilities:

The Georgia Farmers Market Association is currently looking to fill a program coordinator position. This position will work to support GFMA's existing programs, which include:

  • Nourish!- A Guide to Incorporating Local Food at the Family Table
  • Oldways- African Heritage Cooking Course
  • FMM Pro- Market Manager Certification Program

At their core, these programs are designed to improve the farmers market experience, and provide resources for market managers to effectively engage their communities. By supporting these programs, GFMA can maintain and improve the delivery of service to member markets and communities across Georgia. The program coordinator is responsible for, maintaining and providing technical support in order to provide a standard delivery of service to GFMA’s membership base. GFMA is looking to hire a self-motivated and responsible individual with some experience in office management. This position requires an individual who is flexible, engaged, creative and well-organized.

Program Coordinator Job Duties:

  • Develops and maintains office systems to improve efficiency of GFMA operations
  • Maintains office services by organizing office operations and procedures including: assigning and monitoring administrative functions, scheduling, controlling correspondence and designing filing systems
  • Maintains programs and analyzes them to improve efficiency and delivery of service to GFMA members
  • Maintains and promotes GFMA’s membership base through organization and promotion
  • Communicates regularly with membership base to provide technical assistance and support with programming
  • Keeps management informed by reviewing and analyzing special reports; summarizing information; identifying trends.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Assists the director in organizing meetings and webinars to inform board members, GFMA members, staff and community leaders
  • Responds to questions, both written and verbal, from members and partners, and assists with follow up correspondence.
  • Assists with outreach and awareness initiatives to community members, farmers market shoppers, farmers and market managers
  • Manages social media accounts, and schedules regular posts in accordance with GFMA's themes and values 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required minimum
  • 1-2 years’ experience in project management or administration
  • Effective communication
  • Familiarity with agricultural practices
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Detail-oriented; ability to prioritize assignments
  • Proven ability to work independently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to maintain the operations of the organization by managing and improving systems
  • Experience with office organization and administrative responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of related themes such as local food, sustainability, growing practices and food justice
  • Knowledge of Georgia’s agricultural landscape and familiarity with outdoor farmers markets
  • Understanding of distance education delivery systems, modalities and programs
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships and networks among policy makers and practitioners in multiple states

Job Type: Full-time

Required education:

  • Bachelor's
  • Related subjects include: human health, nonprofit management, agriculture, horticulture, systems management

Required experience:

  • Project Management or administration: 1 year

Office Manager Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), Managing Processes, Supervision, Promoting Process Improvement, Inventory, Reporting Skills

 

Salary Range: $31- 35k
