Our top priority is to grow for our own storefront – Jim Adams Farm & Table – which includes a market for fresh produce and a café serving dishes made from our produce.

Job description

We are looking for a highly-motivated, high-energy farm assistant with some knowledge of basic farming techniques and a general agriculture skill set to support our farmer. This is a long-term, full-time position.

Requirements & Responsibilities

• On-Farm Management

Work with lead farmer in planning and overseeing crop schedule including planting, harvesting, packing, and delivery of vegetables and flowers.

Assist lead farmer with the maintenance and build out of all farm buildings as well as manage the use and return of all tools to appropriate locations, and ensure a general level of tidiness

Maintain and execute maintenance of small and large farm equipment

• Organic Production

Work alongside lead farmer in all production related activities – bed preparation, harvest, and general farm upkeep

Assist lead farmer with proper care and maintenance of all perennials

Work alongside lead farmer in apiary activities including hive inspection, honey harvest, and beehive construction.

• Marketing

Assist lead farmer in coordinating and executing weekly Atlanta restaurant deliveries and engage and educate customers in farm activities and opportunities to participate.

•  Qualifications and Expectations:

Some experience with annual and perennial organic systems and production is required

Experience producing in greenhouses is preferred

Experience making deliveries and a clean driving record are required

Must be able to lift 50+ pounds on a regular basis

Good record-keeping skills

Ability to work alongside people from diverse cultures and demographics
