Farm Crew Member Woven Roots Farm

  • Date Posted January 19, 2018
  • Location Tyringham, MA
  • Category Agriculture / Production
  • Job type Full-Time
Company description Woven Roots Farm is committed to inspiring people to grow food through regenerative practices, enhancing our creative expression, engaging our youth and sharing the natural world.

We are dedicated to honoring the wisdom of the past while ensuring the food security of our future. For almost 20 years, we have continued to wholesomely feed our soil as much, if not more, than it has fed us.  We recognize the interconnectedness of all life: soil, plants, microbes, insects, and animals.  We seek to only enhance these connections, not to disturb them.  Our farm is cultivated as a permanent bed, no-till farming system.  Our fields are established in 30″ rows and 12″ aisles.  Once these spaces are defined, they remain this way.  This creates compacted soil in the aisles which discourages weed production and nutrient-rich, hand-cultivated beds for our seeds and seedlings to thrive.  At no point has there ever been any use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or pesticides here.

Throughout the season, we offer our fields rich, local compost, cover crops and tender care without the detrimental impact of machinery.  This ensures that the dignity of the soil structure below is not disturbed.  Microorganisms, animals, earthworms, and insects thrive providing an optimal location for the roots of our crops to grow.  When the soil is aerated, but not disturbed, water and nutrients percolate through with ease, creating a perfect environment for nutrient-dense crops.

With attention to detail, we are proud to offer top-quality, delicious produce. We hope that you enjoy the flavor and beauty of our vegetables and take pride in supporting a local, sustainable farming operation. Job description
