Reporting to and in partnership with the Education Director, the educator is a 35 hour position teaching garden and environmental education programs for public school groups and partner organizations, delivering our programming to diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead weekly culinary and garden lessons at the Decatur Housing Authority and teach as needed at the Wylde Center, in City Schools of Decatur, and at other schools around Atlanta.
• Assist with education department programs as needed, including environmental education, break camps, and public events.
• Develop curriculum for classes with the education team.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of gardening and environmental education, and able to practically instruct students on these topics.
• Able to work outside to facilitate hands-on farm to school programming and environmental science programming when needed.
• Experience developing and delivering garden and science-based curriculum; previous experience working with at-risk urban communities and leading Farm to School programs preferred; experience with Georgia Performance Standards/Common Core a plus.
• Must enjoy working with youth and adults.
