We are a small single location bagelry focused on creating hand-shaped cold-fermented organic sourdough bagels boiled and baked in small batches throughout the day. Located in the Boston Public Market, we source our ingredients from local organic and seasonally available ingredients whenever possible, many of which come from our fellow market vendors. Our menu ranges from bagels and cream cheese, bagel sandwiches, pizza bagels, and seasonal soups in bagel bowls.
We have a staff of 8-10 with a strong emphasis on well-rounded team members who are trained in all tasks. We develop roles to highlight each person's strengths to allow everyone to shine. The resulting team is a close knit group who is a pleasure to work with, coach and guide.
We are seeking an experienced food industry professional who can anticipate demand, make decisions on the fly, ensure customers are happy, support staff and maintain high morale. Required is a love of bagels and an interest in local organic sustainable food. You will work closely with the owner to carry out the bagelry mission, grow our loyal customer base, and continue to craft the world’s best bagels.
Team Manager: Gives constructive feedback and encouragement when observing areas that need improvement or when duties are accomplished well. Models excellent customer service skills that employees will emulate while maintaining high company morale. Actively recruit, orient, train and develop employees. Craft employee schedules to meet labor needs.
Customer Service Phenom: Ability to assuage any customer concerns or complaints and ensure each customer leaves happy.
Inventory Manager: Track and buy inventory and ingredients to ensure orders are placed in a timely manner and avoid food waste and spoilage while sourcing locally for seasonally available ingredients.
Quality Control: Supervise shaping, proofing and baking to ensure each bagel and menu item meets our highest standards for excellence. This includes ensuring food meets all ServSafe protocol including time and temperature compliance.
Organizer & Planner: Ability to anticipate large crowds and plan accordingly days in advance to ensure proper quantities of bagels shaped, ingredients ordered, and staff scheduled as well as keeping the stall in a neat and organized manner.
Proficient multi-tasker: Balancing multiple tasks at once – working on present and future tasks while remembering what is most important – happy customers and a great product.
Fastidious cleaner: Keeping the stall clean throughout the day as well as upon closing every night.
Jack of all trades: Complete whatever tasks are necessary throughout the day to ensure product is available and customers are taken care of.
Our Ideal candidate will have:
- 1-3 years of kitchen experience and at least one year of management experience
- Previous baking experience preferred
- Must have sense of urgency and sense for time management
- Immense pride in their work and desire for perfection
