Campbell & Co. (formerly Campbell Cheese & Grocery) is now hiring a Head Chef to lead our kitchen team as we expand our offerings and elevate our food program overall. We are growing and would love to hire someone who wants to grow with us. We are looking for a self-motivated, natural leader with keen organizational skills and a passion for good food. This position is full-time with competitive pay and benefits.
Campbell & Co. started out five years ago as Campbell Cheese & Grocery. We are in the process of transitioning into more of a café & catering company (with less of a focus on retail offerings). We are looking for a chef to lead us into this next phase. It’s an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to develop our new menu and expand our in-house offerings (dinner entrees, baked goods, specialty 'pack-outs', daily salad and sandwich specials), as well as create our off-site catering menu (passed appetizers, family style entrees, etc.). There is ample opportunity at Campbell & Co for culinary creativity and autonomy. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees all kitchen and catering operations, including team management, scheduling, food preparation, quality control, inventory, ordering, cleanliness, and equipment maintenance.
- Hires, trains and oversees kitchen staff.
- Develop and execute new menu, both in-house offerings and catering.
- Develops and oversees seasonally-driven menus.
- Plans and maintains monthly budgets.
- Oversees purchasing, receiving, and tracking inventory.
- Maintains an immaculate and organized kitchen at all times.
- Reports directly to the owners.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Passion and enthusiasm for food and cooking, especially working within local, seasonal produce.
- At least 2 - 3 years of professional kitchen experience in NYC, including work as a line cook.
- At least 1 year of leadership and/or managerial experience.
- At least 1 year of catering experience.
- Experience with budgeting, scheduling, inventory, and pricing out menu items.
- Self-motivated and driven to exceed expectations.
- Extremely organized with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task.
- Natural leader with great communication skills.
- A team player with a willingness to jump in and help with all tasks.
- A quick-thinking and decisive problem solver.
- NY Food Handler's Certificate.
- Additional Pluses: baking experience.
