Silverwood Organic Farm’s mission is to reclaim and restore historic farmland as a community resource for the production of certified organic, locally grown produce using sustainable farming methods. The Farm sells its certified organic produce direct to select retailers and restaurants on a wholesale basis. High quality, fresh, organic produce is grown using techniques that are respectful of the environment and that naturally replenish soil nutrients.

We are hiring Field Crew to help with all aspects of production and distribution on our certified organic vegetable farm located in Sherborn, MA.
Dates: Immediate to November 2018 Hours: Monday through Friday; hours vary during season from 35-40. Part-time hours available in a limited basis Compensation: Hourly wage based on experience, workman's comp, produce from the farm as available
Responsibilities: The Field Crew is involved in all aspects of production and distribution, including greenhouse work; infrastructure and irrigation management; field prep; planting and weeding; insect and disease control; harvesting; washing and packing; and distribution. It is rigorous but rewarding work that requires the ability to work long hours in the field under all weather conditions. S/he is supervised by and works closely with the farm managers.
Physical Requirements: A Silverwood Organic Farm Field Crew employee must be able and willing to:
- Enjoy physical labor in an outdoor setting that is often fast-paced and demanding;
- Able to tolerate all weather conditions including tolerance for pests and thorns;
- Good physical condition with strong hands, wrists, back and knees;
- Stand, sit, bend, kneel, stretch and squat for long periods of time; - Able to lift up to 45 lbs. on a regular basis;
- Work in an outdoor environment, including tolerance for pests and thorns;
- Work quickly and efficiently, understanding the importance of working as a team player to accomplish each task.
Additional Qualifications: The ability to bring enthusiasm, initiative, and good humor to the intense outdoor working conditions of the season is essential. Also, applicants must be willing to work a flexible schedule, able to lift 50 lbs, and have a valid driver's license.
