Co-founders Matthew Morton and Conrad Sandelman met in college at New York University, where they studied business management and hospitality. After graduating from NYU in 2015, they traveled around the world, eventually stopping in Uji, Japan.

Inspired by the people, passion and warmth of Uji, Matthew and Conrad returned to Manhattan with a plan to open their own matcha shop that embodied both their New York sensibility and the stateliness of Eastern tea practices. Armed with inspiration and tea leaves straight from Uji, they started developing quirky recipes to showcase the flavor of authentic Japanese Ceremonial Matcha. And thus, Cha Cha Matcha was born.

Summary

Baristas are the face of Cha Cha Matcha, the front line in our quest to transform the way we think about tea. Cha Cha baristas are individuals who bring themselves to work, and are genuinely passionate about hospitality and drink quality. We know how to have fun while delivering a top of class experience and product, and are happy to be in a fast-moving, growing organization.

Essential Functions

• Execute Cha Cha’s menu to our high standards
• Maintain an upbeat, positive, safe and tidy work environment
• Demonstrate hospitality to our internal teams and our guests
• Passion for matcha and a desire to educate others about matcha

Qualifications

• Non-seasonal opportunity- must be able to commit to at least six months
• Professional while fun-loving; empathetic and engaged
• Reliable and consistent

Physical Demands

• Stand and walk- must be able to stand for shifts and move around the kitchen, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, walk up and down steps carrying supplies.
• Perform repetitive motion with hands, wrists, and forearms to operate machinery
• Sight- ability to drive safely
• Taste/Smell- ability to detect and perceive flavor
• Talk/Hear- frequently communicate with team and customers
• Carry Weight, Lift- lift up to 50lbs on occasion, and 35lbs regularly

Work Environment

• Work is performed at the cafe.
• The work environment can be noisy
