Our Brooklyn location is our cake studio, where we create decadently delicious cakes with elegant, handcrafted designs. All of our cakes are made to order, and made from scratch.
Our Hudson location (projected to open at the end of April), will be a storefront bakery. We'll offer our delicious wedding cakes for the greater Hudson Valley, and also offer a well curated selection of daily baked goods and celebration cakes. Job description
Nine Cakes is hiring one full-time bakery assistant to work Tuesdays through Saturdays. We are a high-end custom and wedding cake studio in Brooklyn, and looking for a motivated, dependable, and energetic person to join our close-knit team. We make all of our cakes to order with a very streamlined production process—no retail component for walk in foot traffic.

The ideal candidate must be able to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We’re looking for someone with an eye for detail and great organizational skills, the ideal person works well independently and is truly a team player. Someone who loves cakes in the oven, sauces on the burner, and buttercream in the mixer all at the same time: ability to multi-task and be flexible is a necessity. The ideal candidate also takes direction well and is ready to jump right in.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Accurately following recipes
Large scale batching for dry mixes and batters
Making buttercreams
Preparing sauces, curds, ganaches, fillings
Ensure completion and timeliness of production
Ingredient preparation
Kitchen and ingredient maintenance and sanitation
Receiving and putting away orders/breaking down boxes
Washing dishes, general kitchen maintenance
Trimming, filling and final coating cakes
Tiering cakes to prep for decorating
Preparing cakes for client tastings
Requirements:
At least one year experience in a professional kitchen/bakery
Knowledge of health hazards in food preparation and service
Food Handlers Certificate (or immediate willingness to obtain it)
Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs, standing/doing physical labor for extended periods of time
Hyper-attention to detail and great organizational skills
Able to communicate and follow precise directions
Dependable, team-player
Ability to multi-task and anticipate next steps
Maintain clean and sanitary conditions in your work area
Fluency in English (both reading and writing)
Available to start immediately
